Hawaii (Big Island) 2019

PHOTOGRAPHY |  TRAVEL   Kailua-Kona, Hawaii A friend and I went to Hawaii for the first time in late April and we were there for a week. We stayed the first few nights at an Airbnb and then with a friend for the rest of our stay (both places were very close to downtown). The first two days we had a truck and drove to Hilo, which is on the other side of the island. We didn't have a lot of time with the truck so we couldn't go see everything (including the volcano), but there were lots to do even with a small budget. The whole trip cost under $1,000 CAD (including airfare), though we were really there to take a break from work and go beach hopping. I also really wanted to see some lava, but since we went a few months after the volcanic eruption, there weren't any active flows. Israel 2020 - Day 2

The "Israel 2020" posts are day-by-day summaries of the trip taking place from February 23 to March 5, 2020.

Day 2 Haifa:

We had breakfast at our hotel and drove up the hill to the Technion to meet up with some of their architecture students. When we got to the campus entrance, the security asked each car questions regarding travel (due to Covid-19) and escorted us inside. They gave us a tour of their beautiful campus and we got to see the research that they were doing. After having lunch with their students, we had a quick visit to the Bahai Gardens.

There is a security check to enter the outer gates of the Bahai Gardens, but it is free to enter. However, we could not enter the gardens past the second gate because they are only open to the public in the mornings.

Afterwards we drove down to the beach to visit the National Institute of Oceanography and walk along the water. We quickly explored the park and drove to out next destination.

It was getting dark when we got to our hotel in Tiberias, so we dropped off our luggage and went down to the boardwalk to find dinner. The city was fairly quiet and not a lot of places were open, but we found a falafel stand and got fresh falafel sandwiches.
